Mintel announced their key beauty trend for 2014 this week via press release. Their term for the trend, “Mixologiste,” describes the “blurred lines between beauty technologies that are becoming increasingly common, with overlaps between skincare, hair care and colour cosmetics.”
Personal Care Expert Priscilla Taylor agrees with Mintel that the decades-old trend is here to stay and will only gain momentum. “Remember when conditioning shampoos were first introduced?” asks Taylor. “At the time, there was skepticism regarding whether these products could actually deliver, but today they are well accepted and have become a permanent part of the personal care landscape. Innovators are always researching opportunities for true consumer perceived innovation and cross-over technology is one area that will continue to get attention.”
