Personal care and cosmetic products imported from South Korea, also referred to simply as K-beauty, stand apart for their high quality, commitment to innovation, rigorous safety standards, exotic ingredients and unique textures. The region is known for its creativity and across the world consumers are increasingly turning to skincare rituals and products that originated in Korea.
Product development in Korea is more rapid than anywhere else in the world and consumers can experiment with a wide array of innovations throughout the year. And as K-beauty businesses move closer to achieving ‘same-day formulations’, a special Formulation Day will launch at in-cosmetics Korea in Seoul on 13 June 2018.
New in 2018: Formulation Day
Formulation Day is designed to help R&D teams hone their formulation skills and introduce new techniques. Visitors to this one-day event can experience several exclusive activities including:
- formulation technique coaching by industry experts in the Formulation Lab
- live demonstrations in the Sensory Formulation Demonstration area
- insightful presentations in the Marketing Trends Theatre
Visitors will receive a free formulation handbook.
Formulation training by experts
The free-to-attend Formulation Lab will feature a series of intensive training sessions delivered by the beauty industry’s foremost experts, including Belinda Carli from the Institute of Personal Care Science and an experienced formulator from Ashland. Their sessions will bring their latest innovations to life, expanding beyond the data sheet.
In a unique, purpose-built laboratory, R&D professionals from Korea, China, Japan and more will gain practical advice on how to solve formulation problems and create customisable formulations.
Exclusive, practical learning
In addition to the practical learning, cosmetic chemists and formulators can see live formulation in an open demonstration area that will showcase processes in the latest sensory-based formulations. A number of presentations will highlight the latest make-up formulation trends, early anti-ageing formulations and other critical market insights beyond 2018.
Formulation Day will close with the brand new in-cosmetics Korea Awards, during which the R&D team that has best demonstrated market-leading innovation in the field of formulation will receive the Formulation Award. As the event is open to all, industry professionals from across Asia will have the chance to network with their peers, meet new contacts and discuss issues they face in their businesses.
Sarah Gibson, Exhibition Director of in-cosmetics Korea, commented:
“A large number of visitors to in-cosmetics Korea in 2017 were directly involved in the development and formulation of products. The region leads the world in innovation and our new Formulation Day will provide the education and practical advice that will unlock even more potential. We’re excited to be launching this new initiative and encourage R&D teams in Korea to arrive early so they don’t miss out on any of the exclusive sessions that we’ll be running on 13 June.”
in-cosmetics Korea will run from 13-15 June 2018 in Seoul, with Formulation Day taking place only on the opening day. For more information please visit http://korea.in-cosmetics.com/register to attend free and avoid the queues.
