The consumer wants results. They are happy to try out new products, but if they don\u2019t work, they will not buy these products again. Getting repeat sales is the holy grail for cosmetic brands. Active ingredients play a central role in achieving results and being successful.<\/p>\n<p>CLR is a family owned company. Head office, production and laboratory facilities are based in Berlin, Germany. Since the 1950s we have developed natural active ingredients for the cosmetic industry. Our goal has always been for our products to work and be relevant for the consumer, with proven efficacy and safety.<\/p>\n<p>Finding proof requires in depth understanding for both science and the consumer. Where we start with <em>in vitro<\/em> and <em>ex vivo<\/em> cell biological studies to obtain thorough understanding of the working mechanism of our products, we end with controlled clinical studies on human volunteers where both scientific methods of measurement and consumer perception of the efficacy are combined.<\/p>\n<p>We want our customers to be sure that our ingredients help their products to work. This does not just require a good and well-studied ingredient, it also demands that we give our customers all the support needed for them to be confident in their final product. This includes full insight in all relevant aspects of our ingredients and is accompanied with straightforward and open communication where regulatory aspects related to efficacy claims are considered as well.<\/p>\n<p>CLR provides its customers with the best possible quality ingredients and service. She was the winner of the 2013 Annual Industry Award from CHC Australia for her contribution to research and training and was a finalist in the Australian 2010 Telstra Business Women\u2019s Awards in three categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11145 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ulprospector.ul.com\/media\/2020\/10\/CLR-Harald-van-der-Hoeven_150x180.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Harald van der Hoeven<\/strong><br \/>\nDirector Product Design and Development<br \/>\nCLR Chemisches Laboratorium Dr. Kurt Richter GmbH<\/p>\n<p>Harald van der Hoeven holds a Master\u2019s degree in Organic Chemistry from the University Leiden, The Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>He started to work in the personal care industry in 1999 where he immediately specialized on R&amp;D and the formulation of skincare and suncare cosmetics.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006 Harald joined CLR Chemisches Laboratorium Dr. Kurt Richter (CLR) in Berlin, Germany, and took over as Director R&amp;D, then changed to the position of Technical Marketing Director between May 2013 and August 2020, where he was responsible for technical and scientific support of CLR&#8217;s customers and still heavily involved with CLR&#8217;s R&amp;D department. Harald focuses on basic science, including dermatology, cell biology, phytochemistry, biotechnology and cosmetic formulation technology and the application of this science, making it both usable for the cosmetic chemist and understandable for the consumer. Since September 2020 he has the role of Director Product Design and Development at CLR.
