We have introduced three silicone additives that help coating formulators combine key performances required to protect and preserve the aesthetics of wood over a longer time, while meeting increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n<p>As consumers continue to vote in wood as a sustainable, comfortable and aesthetic material for construction, furniture and interiors, the demand for innovative, high-performance and sustainable wood coating formulations continues to grow around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Silicone-based additives are a special class of materials that can impart many protective and tactile properties to a coating at a low dosage level. These class of materials have shown to improve flow and leveling in architectural coatings as well as slip. Silicones tends to orient at the air-coating interface forming a lubricating layer resulting in the reduction of coefficient of friction which gives the final coating anti-scratch and desirable tactile properties.
