More changes are coming when we finally begin to transition to our pre-pandemic routines. Places and facilities that we once frequented will have to confront not only risks of COVID-19, but other potential pathogens. All these places and facilities can meet the challenge of reopening, not just by providing a clean facility, but a healthy environment where people can learn, live, and work.<\/p>\n<p>Creating a hygienic environment, means that facilities will need to go beyond clean to reduce environmental pathogens and create a healthy environment. There are three steps to creating a healthy environment: cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing. Each step is distinct and independently defined. Product selection is another critical step in creating this hygienic environment. We live in a regulated world with rules and regulations. Because disinfectants are regulated as pesticides, every aspect on how and where these products are used is prescribed by the US EPA.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic increased the demand for disinfectant products and started some practical trends. One of those trends was for assurance: consumers demanded products that could effectively disinfect the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes COVID-19. This demand resulted in EPA creating its fourteenth (14th) disinfectant list, List N. Within weeks, Mason Chemical and our industry colleagues responded by adding new products and adding new claims to existing products.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, safety above all should be a primary concern. Reading the directions on the product on the product label is one of the first steps in understanding the safe use of cleaning and disinfecting products.<\/p>\n<h4><a
