The sustainable approach, based on recycling and re-using, is currently a fundamental principle to be observed when a component is designed or re-designed and a new material is conceived. RadiciGroup High Performance Polymers, as an integrated Italian chemical company and a leader in the production of engineering polymers, applies this environmentally-oriented concept in its processes and materials. For many years RadiciGroup has offered a post-industrial material portfolio, and produced recovering production scraps coming from its polymerization, yarn, and compounding activities. To complete its sustainability offer, today a post-consumer range of materials is also available. Thanks to the experience gained in the recovery of post-industrial polyamide sources, to which important feasibility studies developed during the European Project named Car-E Service have been added, RadiciGroup can now launch the new brand Renycle\u00ae. Renycle\u00ae enlarges RadiciGroup’s recycled product offering, widening the portfolio of the Group\u2019s low-impact materials.<\/p>\n

After illustrating the differences existing between virgin, post-industrial (PIR) and post-consumer (PCR) grades, the mechanical and environmental performance of a PA6-based material 30% glass fiber reinforced belonging to the three types of materials will be compared. Finally, particular attention will be paid to the assessment of the environmental impact, showing the key elements of the LCA calculation such as the definition of boundary conditions, data collection, and outcome processing. The webinar will close showing the comparison between PCR materials, designed to achieve the best compromise between reduced environmental impact and preservation of mechanical performances, and their PIR and virgin counterparts.<\/p>\n
