They must be able to weather environmental elements and tolerate temperature fluctuations at different ends of the thermometer. They also need to exhibit good reaction to fire and physical properties yet must also be flexible enough to coil and store.<\/p>\n<p>Join Huntsman\u2019s Elastomers experts for a special Wire and Cable-focused webinar that will discuss the properties that charging cables for EVs need to demonstrate. The team will explain why thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) are commonly used for jacketing materials for this application. They will showcase a new halogen-free, flame-retardant (HFFR) TPU, which, when used with a suitable process and design, fulfils the UL94 V0 fire rating, as well as European (EN 50620), North American (UL62\/2263) and Chinese standards (GB\/T 33594) \u2013 providing peace of mind to manufacturers and users of charging cables, wherever they operate. This novel HFFR TPU also passes the IEC international standard (IEC 62893-1) and the VDE conductivity test.<\/p>\n<p>Made via a proprietary production process, IROGRAN\u00ae A85 P 5090 FR TPU elastomer provides an effective combination of strength, flexibility, and chemical resistance whilst being easily processed on a variety of cable converters\u2019 equipment.
