Rapid anti-block development allows a faster return to service after painting and reduces or eliminates inadvertent marring of freshly painted surfaces. This is especially true in high-traffic interior as well as exterior applications. Ultimate hardness is also a critical criterion for ultra-premium acrylic coatings, where high abrasion, washability and chemical resistance are needed.<\/p>\n<p>Formulators often rely on the use of migrating species, including waxes and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), specifically fluorosurfactants, to achieve block resistance. Due to environmental and health concerns, PFAS have come under increased scrutiny by the USEPA and regulators around the world.
