It is held in conjunction with the annual SCC scientific meeting each December in New York City. Below are listed several of the more interesting technologies I saw.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SITA Foam Tester R2000 by SITA Messtechnik<\/strong> is an automated foam generating and testing device that can measure foam volume, height, stability, and speed to generate. It is simple to use and the results are very reproducible. An excellent device for anyone doing body wash and shampoo formulation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Epsilon Model E100 by Biox Systems Ltd <\/strong>is a device which measures skin hydration based its surface permittivity or dielectric constant. It also measures hydration across a large areas of skin unlike existing instruments based on conductance or capacitance. Excellent correlation was demonstrated versus the Corneometer. I believe this is a significant improvement in measuring skin hydration versus other methods.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/367\/422748\/MicroCurb-OC?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">MicroCurb\u2122 OC<\/a>\u00a0(Caprylic Acid, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/367\/Kemin\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Kemin<\/a> <\/strong>is a natural broad spectrum preservative derived from oregano that is effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, mold and yeast. The minimum inhibition concentration against most organisms ranged from .1-.5% and typical use levels .5-1% in formulations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/2669\/376040\/EcoSmooth-Delight?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EcoSmooth\u2122 Delight<\/a> (Ethylene\/Octene Copolymer, 15% solids) by<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/2669\/Dow-Consumer-and-Industrial-Solutions\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Chemical<\/a><\/strong> is a sensory modifier for skin care applications. It helps reduce tack and the greasy feel of formulations. Additional benefits include a smooth skin feel, and matte soft focus effect on skin.<br \/>\nEU: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/2667\/376040\/EcoSmooth-Delight?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EcoSmooth\u2122 Delight<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/2667\/Dow-Consumer-and-Industrial-Solutions\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Chemical<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/3476\/109174\/Poly-SugaMulse-D-9?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Poly Suga\u00aeMulse D-9<\/a>\u00a0(Sorbitan Oleate Decylglucoside Crosspolymer, 64% solids) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/3476\/Colonial-Chemical--Inc\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Colonial Chemical<\/a><\/strong> is a new non EO, natural based solubilizing agent. It can solubilize a wide range of essential oils at 2.2-3.5 parts D9 (active basis) to 1 part essential oil. It can also act as a high HLB emulsifier in lamellar gel network based oil in water emulsions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/1091\/525032\/Garamite-7308?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Garamite\u00ae 7308<\/a> (Quaternium-90 Sepiolite, Quaternium-90 Montmorillonite) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/1091\/Eckart-America\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Eckart America<\/a><\/strong> is a thickener and suspension aid for low to medium polarity liquids. It consists of a mixture of 2 organically modified clays with different morphologies making them much easier to disperse without needing high shear or the use of a polar additive normally needed when using other organically modified clays like Bentones (Elementis). It also provides a higher yield value than Bentone and exhibits less settling. Garamite 7305 is recommended for use with polar liquids.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Detail\/1483\/211884\/ABIL-ME-45?st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Abil<span data-swap-id=\"truncated_desc\">\u00ae <\/span> ME 45<\/a> (Silicone Quaternium 22, Polyglyceryl 3 Caprate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, 30% active) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/Suppliers\/1483\/Evonik-Industries-AG-Personal-Care\/search?sug=1&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Evonik<\/a><\/strong> is a microemulsion of Silicone Quaternium 22 that deposits ~1300 ppm of active when used at 1% in a hair conditioner formulation compared to 100 ppm added neat. Superior conditioning was also demonstrated when used in a shampoo with PQ10. While at Procter &amp; Gamble, George was one of the top inventors, with 354 granted and filed global patents (201 U.S. patents). He helped develop many of the core platform technologies used in skin care today with numerous products commercialized under the Olay, Bain de Soleil, Clearasil, Noxzema and SK2 brands. Previously, George was a Senior Chemist and Manager in the area of skin care product development, as well as the Director of Exploratory Formulation for Charles of the Ritz Group. During this time, George received the President\u2019s Cup Award for outstanding business contribution and developed numerous marketed skin care products under the Bain de Soleil, Jean Nate, Yves Saint Laurent and Charles of the Ritz Brands. George is a current member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and is on the scientific advisory board for Cosmetics &amp; Toiletries Magazine. He is a frequent guest lecturer for numerous key global suppliers, as well as for local and national SCC meetings. George is an avid tennis player and follower of the sport. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before being appointed a Victor Miles Research Fellow, he also served as Associate Director of Exploratory Formulation for skin care product development. While at Procter &amp; Gamble, George was one of the top inventors, with 354 granted and filed global patents (201 U.S. patents). He helped develop many of the core platform technologies used in skin care today with numerous products commercialized under the Olay, Bain de Soleil, Clearasil, Noxzema and SK2 brands. Previously, George was a Senior Chemist and Manager in the area of skin care product development, as well as the Director of Exploratory Formulation for Charles of the Ritz Group. During this time, George received the President\u2019s Cup Award for outstanding business contribution and developed numerous marketed skin care products under the Bain de Soleil, Jean Nate, Yves Saint Laurent and Charles of the Ritz Brands. George is a current member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and is on the scientific advisory board for Cosmetics &amp; Toiletries Magazine. He is a frequent guest lecturer for numerous key global suppliers, as well as for local and national SCC meetings. George is an avid tennis player and follower of the sport.
