Microplastic are poorly biodegradable and remain in the environment for many decades, thus accumulating in aquatic life and eventually ending up in our food and drinking water. On average, a person ingests approximately 100 solid plastic particles per day. Microplastics are widely used in cosmetics to give sensorial, rheological and textural properties to a product.<\/p>\n<p>On October 17th 2023, the EU regulation EU 2023\/2055 came into force to ban all intentionally added synthetic polymer microparticles used at >0.01% by weight. The new regulation is much bigger than the microplastic beads that were banned in rinse-off cosmetics in 2018. The new regulation targets all types of cosmetic formulations and solid synthetic polymers also fall into this definition.<\/p>\n<p>In this webinar, we propose a natural, sustainable and biodegradable alternative to microplastics that does not leave your formulation feeling tacky!  <\/p>\n<p>Valida is derived from cellulose, the most abundant organic polymer on Earth and the main component of all plants and delivers multiple functionalities to cosmetic products including stabilisation of emulsions, suspension of particles, enhanced sensorial effect, foam-boosting of natural surfactants and SPF-boosting.
