This infographic, created with research from industry expert Priscilla Taylor, provides a visual reference for ingredients like\u00a0sunscreen actives, retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few highlights from the graphic:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The visible signs of aging include fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and hyper pigmentation.<\/li>\n<li>Photo-aging occurs when UVA rays reach the dermis and damage collagen, elastin and other fibers that support skin.<\/li>\n<li>Sunscreen agents are active ingredients that absorb, reflect or scatter radiation in the UV range at wavelengths from 290 to 400 nanometers and are regulated by the FDA.<\/li>\n<li>Retinoids available in OTC products include retinal palmitate, retinaldehyde, and retinol.<\/li>\n<li>Alpha hydroxy acids facilitate the removal of dead skin cells, resulting in improved skin appearance. When Helene-Curtis was purchased by industry giant Unilever in 1996, Priscilla was promoted to Senior Product Development Manager. She had the privilege of working with global teams to develop and launch products both domestically and worldwide for many popular brands, including Dove and Suave. Concurrent to her work at Prospector, Priscilla is a Product Development Chemist with Bria Research Labs. She is actively involved in formulating for a diverse array of clients. While she mostly formulates personal care and cosmetics products, she has also had the opportunity to work on projects for the household, industrial and institutional cleaners industry. Priscilla was born and raised in Trinidad, West Indies, but she considers Chicago her adopted hometown.
