The most recent example comes from Bluetti, which partnered with German advanced-materials giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/plastics\/en\/search?term=Covestro+-+Polycarbonates&amp;utm_source=KnowledgeCenter&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=polycarbonate&amp;utm_term=2026PE&amp;utm_content=Grace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covestro<\/a> on its next-generation Elite series model. The companies showcased the product \u2013\u2013 dubbed the Elite 100 V2 Bio-Circular \u2013\u2013 at the big CES 2026 show in Las Vegas in early January.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, portable power stations served primarily as emergency backups during power outages but they now have become essential equipment for such outdoor activities as camping and recreational-vehicle travel.<\/p>\n<p>For this latest product <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluettipower.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bluetti<\/a>, a green energy company founded in 2009 in Shenzhen, China, chose to make the housing from Covestro\u2019s Bayblend<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0RE polycarbonate, which contains 25 percent bio-circular raw materials, attributed through mass balance accounting. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/plastics\/en\/search?term=Covestro+-+Polycarbonates&amp;utm_source=KnowledgeCenter&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=polycarbonate&amp;utm_term=2026PE&amp;utm_content=Grace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covestro<\/a> \u00a0estimates this can reduce the housing&#8217;s CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0footprint by more than 20 percent compared to the conventional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/plastics\/en\/search?term=%22Polycarbonates%22&amp;utm_source=KnowledgeCenter&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=polycarbonate&amp;utm_term=2026PE&amp;utm_content=Grace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polycarbonate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20962\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 300px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20962 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/ulprospector.ul.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2_Selfie-at-CES-2026_by-Niko-Palosuo-300x169.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ulprospector.ul.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2_Selfie-at-CES-2026_by-Niko-Palosuo-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ulprospector.ul.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2_Selfie-at-CES-2026_by-Niko-Palosuo.jpeg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">The partners in this project launched the new device at the CES 2026 show in Las Vegas. (Covestro photo by Niko Palosuo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Illia Zahnitko, business development manager of Bluetti Power Inc., said at CES that a key challenge involved ensuring that the device&#8217;s housing lasts as long as its internal components. The firm said that with more than 4,000 charging cycles \u2013\u2013 roughly 10 years of use \u2013\u2013 its LiFePO4 battery \u201crequires a housing that withstands aging, brittleness, and wear, even under extreme temperatures and UV exposure.\u201d At the same time, for safety reasons, the material must tolerate heat during operation without fire risk.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Saks, Covestro\u2019s electronics and electrical marketing manager \u2013 Americas, noted that the Bayblend\u00ae polycarbonate meets both requirements: \u201cIt offers high impact resistance even at low temperatures and complies with UL 94 V-0 flame retardant standards for safe operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/plastics\/en\/search?term=Covestro+-+Polycarbonates&amp;utm_source=KnowledgeCenter&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=polycarbonate&amp;utm_term=2026PE&amp;utm_content=Grace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covestro<\/a> formulates the Bayblend\u00ae RE grade to include renewable ingredients attributed through mass balance accounting from bio-circular and biological residues. The material is part of the firm\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.covestro.com\/en\/sustainability\/what-drives-us\/circular-economy\/circular-intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CQ (Circular Intelligence) product portfolio<\/a>, which marks products attributed with at least 25 percent alternative raw materials through this accounting method.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond technical performance, Saks said Bayblend\u00ae enables refined surface textures and diverse color options through Covestro&#8217;s advanced color, material and finish (CMF) capabilities. Alternatively, this model features a 1,000-watt solar input that can reach a full charge in 70 minutes using its built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller. Energy journalist\u00a0Tristan Rayner, who writes for <em>pv<\/em> magazine, said: &#8220;We&#8217;re witnessing a transition in energy storage as it spreads throughout the home, and in mobility options as well.
