For the personal care industry, food ingredients are a great place to start. It&#8217;s also an effective skin-conditioning agent with emollient effects, adding moisturizing attributes to creams, lotions and bar soaps.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=glycerin&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Glycerin<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=glycerin&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) \/ <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=glycerol&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">glycerol<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=glycerol&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) keeps baked goods and some candies soft, functions as a thickener and helps to maintain viscosity in food products. In personal care products, it&#8217;s used a s a humectant, hair and skin conditioner and is FDA-approved as a skin protectant.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=Spirulina&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Spirulina<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=Spirulina&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) is often found in supplements or added to smoothies for its high protein levels. A skin conditioning agent packed with vitamins, minerals and proteins, spirulina has a marine heritage and is used in creams, lotions, soaps and skin treatments.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=beeswax&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Beeswax<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=beeswax&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) provides a shiny and protective coating to apples and other fruit and may be sued a s a coating for hard cheeses to prevent mold growth. It is a multi-functional ingredient used as a structuring agent, skin conditioner, epilating agent and as an emulsifier when combined with borax.<\/li>\n<li>Without <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=cocoa+butter&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">cocoa butter<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=cocoa+butter&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>), chocoholics would be lost. Besides acting as the base for chocolate, some suggest using cocoa butter as a substitute for gelatin. In personal care, cocoa butter has been approved as a skin protectant by the FDA and is a popular skin-conditioning agent.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=zinc+oxide&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">Zinc oxide<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=zinc+oxide&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) is a dietary supplement that aids in metabolic functions. It is used in cosmetics and other personal care products as a colorant and is an approved sunscreen active and skin protectant.<\/li>\n<li>A functional food, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/na\/PersonalCare\/search?k=oatmeal&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">oatmeal<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulprospector.com\/en\/eu\/PersonalCare\/search?k=oatmeal&amp;st=31\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a>) lowers cholesterol due to its high content of soluble fiber. While she mostly formulates personal care and cosmetics products, she has also had the opportunity to work on projects for the household, industrial and institutional cleaners industry. Priscilla was born and raised in Trinidad, West Indies, but she considers Chicago her adopted hometown.
