As products are increasingly exposed to harsh environmental conditions, manufacturers face growing pressure to design for long-term durability, appearance retention, and reliable performance over time. Yet weathering considerations are often introduced too late in the development process, when material or design changes become more difficult, costly, and time-consuming to address.<\/p>\r\n

In this webinar, Americhem will explore how weathering considerations can be integrated earlier into polymer product development to support more informed material selection, testing strategies, and long-term performance planning. The session will examine how factors such as UV exposure, heat, moisture, and environmental conditions can influence polymer behavior across a range of demanding applications.<\/p>\r\n

Through application-driven examples and case studies, attendees will gain insight into common weathering mechanisms, practical considerations for selecting and interpreting weathering test methods, and how environmental exposure can impact long-term durability, aesthetics, and lifecycle expectations. The webinar will also discuss how early-stage decisions involving formulation, additives, color, and material design can influence downstream product performance and durability outcomes.<\/p>\r\n

Drawing on Americhem’s experience across transportation, healthcare, building and construction, fibers, and other polymer applications, this session is designed for engineers, OEMs, product designers, and technical professionals seeking to better understand how weathering data can support smarter development decisions and reduce downstream performance risk.<\/p>\r\n

\"Roger Roger Threadgill<\/strong>
Global Fibers Technology Leader
Americhem<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Roger Threadgill is Americhem’s Global Fibers Technology Leader. He leads fiber technology development and maintenance, along with research and product development. A 1988 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University with a B.S. in Physics, Roger joined Americhem in 1989 as a Product Design Specialist in Concord, NC. He later served as a Technical Service Specialist investigating product nonconformances and as Customer Service Laboratory Supervisor overseeing product design. He then led the Concord technical department as Technical Manager, with responsibility for quality control and formulation, raw material evaluation, product design, and technical service. In 2003, Roger earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Materials) from the University of South Carolina and transitioned into Fibers Research & Development. \"Layla Kayla Riebe<\/strong>
Weathering Scientist
Americhem<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Kayla Riebe is the Weathering Scientist at Americhem, where she manages one of the largest dedicated weathering laboratories in the United States. She supports global testing programs across a wide range of polymer applications, providing technical support related to accelerated weathering and material performance. Kayla earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering in 2023. Prior to joining Americhem in January 2026, she worked in Quality Engineering, developing a detail-oriented and analytical approach to testing and evaluation. She can be reached at kmriebe@americhem.com<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n
