Philadelphia, PA (May 13, 2016) \u2014 INOLEX has announced today that it has earned the U.S. Department of\u00a0Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label for the seven following products.<\/p>\n

Biobased product certification and labeling is available through USDA\u2019s BioPreferred program. Biobased products are composed wholly or significantly of biological ingredients \u2013 renewable plant, animal, marine, or forestry materials. The BioPreferred program is an initiative to increase the development, purchase, and use of biobased products.<\/p>\n

\"ScreenThe USDA Certified Biobased Product label communicates a product\u2019s biobased content. Usually expressed as a percentage, biobased content is the ratio of non-fossil organic carbon (new carbon) to total organic carbon in a product. New carbon is derived from recently-created materials. The total organic carbon in a product consists of new carbon and old organic carbon that originates from fossil carbon materials, such as petroleum, coal, or natural gas.<\/p>\n

As USDA Certified Biobased Products, these seven products have achieved third party verification of their biobased content, and have earned approval to display a USDA label which features a product\u2019s tested biobased content.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to announce that several of our products are now certified under the BioPreferred program as it demonstrates our continued commitment to providing innovative solutions that address the rapidly growing demand for safe and sustainable products,\u201d said Tyler Housel, INOLEX EVP and Head of the Lexolube division. \u201cThis adds to our existing portfolio of certified products which include: Ecolabel LuSC-List, NSF Food Grade HX- 1, Halal, and Kosher certifications.\u201d<\/p>\n

“We applaud INOLEX for earning the USDA Certified Biobased Product label,” said Kate Lewis, USDA BioPreferred Program Analyst. “Products from INOLEX are contributing to an ever expanding marketplace that adds value to renewable agriculture commodities, creates jobs in rural communities, and decreases our reliance on petroleum.”<\/p>\n

According to a report USDA released in 2015, biobased products contribute $369 billion to the U.S. economy each year and support, directly and indirectly, 4 million jobs. The same report found that biobased products also displace approximately 300 million gallons of petroleum per year in the U.S., which is the equivalent of taking 200,000 cars off the road. The increased production of renewable chemicals and biobased products contributes to the development and expansion of the U.S. bioeconomy \u2013 where society looks to agriculture for sustainable sources of fuel, energy, chemicals, and materials.<\/p>\n

The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label will soon appear on these product packages and literature.<\/p>\n
