The barrier effect and adhesion balance has been difficult to achieve in waterborne systems, particularly when considering wet adhesion. Most commercial systems tested fell short in one or both of these performance tests.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the industry\u2019s increasing performance expectations for waterborne systems and the desire to lower the VOC levels of their coatings, there is a significant need to develop new polymers to improve the performance of incumbent resins in this space.
