WEBINAR: Thermal runaway mitigation standardization: Information you need to know
Presented by UL Solutions
Thermal runaway is an identified, and growing, hazard that could significantly impact the safe application of battery storage technologies. The presentation will show how UL Solutions’ tracking and transparent reporting of battery-related incidents — including product type, what happened, and the impact — is helping drive an understanding of this technology and where the greatest risks exist.
Besides our leadership in Battery Enclosure Material Screening (BEMS) and product evaluation after installation, we’ll show how our research is assisting in diverse areas including fire department response strategies. Hear about the status of standardization for UL Solutions’ Torch and Grit (TaG) as well as the Battery Enclosure Thermal Runaway (BETR) tests in UL 2596 as well as consensus work taking place under UL Standards and Engagement (ULSE). And finally, get insight into UL Solutions’ next generation testing supporting new material technologies focused on cell isolation/separation to significantly minimize the potential for thermal runaway events from propagating beyond the cell initially involved.
A global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions transforms safety, security and sustainability challenges into opportunities for customers in more than 100 countries.
