Course Overview
This GHS Essentials course will take place as an instructor-led, live online training over the course of two weeks. The times and delivery for the online training course are detailed below:
- The course will be comprised of 4 online classroom sessions and 2 online office hours sessions (optional).
- Course and office hours will run on the same days and at the same times for two consecutive weeks (Note: office hours differ from course hours).
- The online office hours sessions are reserved as Q&A sessions with the instructors. Attendance for these sessions is optional.
- Login details for all of the sessions will be provided to registrants in advance.

Course Summary
The GHS Essentials course covers the history of the Globally Harmonized System (Classification, SDS and Labeling) and its resultant harmonized classification criteria, and labeling and SDS requirements.
Please Note: The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Purple Book (9th Revised Edition) will be required for this course. The “Purple Book” is available on the UNECE website in six languages. You can access it here.
