Presented by DuPont Mobility & Materials
Recorded on September 13, 2022
Increasingly rigorous performance, sustainability and manufacturing requirements are prompting value chain players in the electrical components market to explore new material solutions. DuPont is keeping pace with the industry’s changing needs by developing new performance polymers with enhanced properties.
In this free technical webinar, DuPont experts will discuss several of the company’s newest products that address challenges around electrical components applications.
- Innovative Solutions for Thermoset Replacement for Coil Forms. Thermoset materials have been adopted in coil forms due to its high dip-soldering resistance; however, they have several drawbacks, such as brittleness, being environmentally unfriendly, requiring extra deflashing, and having low electrical properties. Thermoplastics overcome all of these challenges. Furthermore, to replace thermosets, a thermoplastic with good dip soldering resistance is required. Zytel® HTNFR42G45NHSR, a new glass-reinforced, non-halogenated flame-retardant (NHFR), bio-based high-performance polyamide (PPA) resin with improved dip-soldering resistance is the first choice for manufacturers.
- High Glow Wire Ignition Temperature (GWIT) Solutions for Plugs, Sockets and Terminal Blocks. Increasing safety concerns have prompted the development of higher GWIT performance for electrical components. Zytel® HTNFR52G30GWNH glass-reinforced PPA delivers improved GWIT testing performance compared to traditional NHFR plastics of up to 775⁰C @ 0.4/0.75/1.5/3.0 mm according to the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE) test report.
- Sustainable Solutions for Circuit Breakers and Contactors. As the industry continues its emphasis on sustainable materials to protect the environment and protect people, NHFR materials are critical for electrical components manufactures. Crastin® FR684NH1 PBT, Crastin® FR685NH1 PBT, Zytel® FR70G30V0NH1 PA66, and Zytel® FR70G30V0NH2 PA66 resins will be presented during the webinar to emphasize their premium NHFR properties.
DuPont’s webinar presenters will be Richard (Nai Chun) Chang, Global Strategic Marketing Manager, Electrical & Electronics; Max (Hung) Chen, Application Development Segment Leader for Electrical Components, Asia Pacific; and Peter Kulischek, Application Development Segment Leader for Electrical Components, EMEA.
