As the boundaries between skin and haircare continue to blur, the cosmetic industry is increasingly adopting a skin-inspired approach to hair product development. This webinar explores the scientific and technical rationale behind the skinification trend in haircare and presents new objectivated data supporting the efficacy of Phytosqualan, olive-based squalane produced by SOPHIM.
Originally validated through in vivo studies on the skin (−22.4% TEWL, +14.7% hydration), Phytosqualan has demonstrated benefits that may be transferable to hair fiber. A series of ex vivo tests was conducted using conditioners formulated with 1% and 2% Phytosqualan, applied to standardized hair tresses.
Three critical parameters were assessed:
- Hair gloss, as an indicator of surface uniformity and light reflection
- Combability, as a measure of fiber friction and mechanical integrity
- Frizz control, as a marker of cohesion and environmental resistance
Attend to understand why Phytosqualan supports haircare through data-backed ex vivo testing and formulation relevance.
